Building Trades & Construction
Design Technologies


Students choosing a career in Building Trades & Construction Design Technologies are knowledgeable in all phases of modern construction including applying building codes and regulations in the preparation of CAD drawings, reading and interpreting drawings, masonry, carpentry, installing utilities, and computer applications related to the building construction industry.

 

Cabinetmaking

Students choosing a career in Cabinetmaking utilize power tools specific to cabinet making, to construct, install, and repair fixtures, such as cabinets, casework, drawers, molding, millwork, wood stairways. They have a knowledge of working with plastic laminates, stone, composites, finishing products, wood, and wood substitutes following local building codes.

 

Drafting


Students choosing a career in Drafting produce technical CAD drawings and plans that are used in construction, architecture, and engineering. Their drawings show details and dimensions, explain procedures, and list materials. This program provides students with a foundation of technically-oriented experiences in the study of drafting, computer aided drafting (CAD), and design technology. The drafting laboratories are equipped with the latest state-of-the-art digital design hardware and AutodeskĀ® AutoCAD software capable of the highest industry standard CAD and design solutions.

 

Electricity

Students choosing a career in the field of Electricity are knowledgeable in basic Direct-Current (DC) electrical-circuit and Alternating-Current (AC) circuit skills. They are skilled in the use and maintenance of the tools and accessories used in the electrical industry.

This program instructs students in the importance of health, safety, environmental management and regulatory compliance in the when working with electricity as applied in new or remodeled building construction, as well as electrical motors. Students learn the importance of demonstrating leadership and teamwork skills needed to accomplish team goals and objectives. Courses are taught in applied learning labs, and real-world environments where students learn to install residential and commercial wiring systems.
